Terraced street rows
Long, tightly packed rows of brick houses form the main texture of the map, with thin parallel streets that show how quickly the mining population grew.

关于地图
Gilly Map Poster & Print
Gilly lies on the north-eastern side of Charleroi, part of the city since the Belgian municipal mergers of the 1970s. From above it reads as a dense working-class district. Rows of terraced houses follow long streets that run out from the centre, broken up by rail corridors, industrial plots and the green patches that mark former colliery ground.
Like much of the Pays Noir, Gilly grew on coal. The mines have closed, but their traces remain in the land. Spoil heaps, now overgrown, rise as rounded forms at the edges of the street grid, and old industrial routes still set the direction of many roads. On a map the district looks layered, as if several eras of work had been drawn on top of each other.
A Gilly map poster keeps that layered texture. Narrow parallel streets fill most of the frame, the ring and trunk roads of greater Charleroi cut across the edges, and green patches mark where heavy industry once stood. It is an honest portrait of a Walloon industrial town, drawn with the same weight it gives any grand capital.

Spoil heaps
Former colliery heaps, now wooded, appear as soft rounded islands of green among the streets, a reminder of the coal that built the district.
Charleroi connections
Major roads and rail lines toward central Charleroi frame the district, tying Gilly into the wider industrial network of the Sambre valley.

为什么选Gilly
一张有意义的地图
Gilly is the kind of place people carry with them, a family street, a parish, a first flat near the station. A map of it records something real about Wallonia's industrial past and makes a meaningful gift for anyone whose roots run through Charleroi.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or the year someone moved away. Five styles are available: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir suits the district's coal-country history especially well.
