关于地图
Hiji Map Poster & Print
Hiji is a town in Oita Prefecture on Kyushu, set on the northern shore of Beppu Bay between Beppu and Kitsuki. On the map it is a narrow band of settlement along the coast, with roads and a railway line running parallel to the water and hills rising behind.
The town grew around Hiji Castle, built on the shore at the start of the seventeenth century; its site overlooks the bay. Hiji is also known for shiroshita karei, a flatfish caught in the waters below the castle and long valued as a local delicacy.
A Hiji map poster shows a coastal town held between sea and hills. The shoreline forms a strong edge, the coastal roads and railway run beside it, and rice fields and wooded slopes spread inland. In black and white, the wide bay leaves a calm open space that gives the map a peaceful balance.
