Illertissen Map Poster & Print
Illertissen is a town in Bavarian Swabia, on the eastern side of the Iller valley south of Ulm. From above, its layout is shaped by the valley's step-like terraces. The older centre gathers along a main street near the edge of higher ground, while newer neighbourhoods spread across the flatter land below and outwards into the surrounding fields.
Above the town stands the Vöhlinschloss, a castle that has long marked the skyline and gives Illertissen its most familiar landmark. The Illertal railway and the main road through the valley run roughly parallel to the river, drawing strong north–south lines through the map.
