İskilip Map Poster & Print
İskilip is a town in Çorum province in north-central Anatolia. On a map, its old core shows up as a tight tangle of streets around a steep rock outcrop that rises from the middle of town. Newer neighbourhoods spread outward along the valley in a more regular pattern, and roads leave toward surrounding villages and farmland.
The rock at the centre of town holds ancient rock-cut tombs carved into its face, usually associated with the Paphlagonian period. They are one of İskilip's best-known sights. The town is also known across Turkey for İskilip dolması, a dish of rice and meat slow-cooked in a copper pot, often prepared for weddings and special gatherings.
