关于地图
Kariba Map Poster & Print
Kariba lies on the Zimbabwean shore of Lake Kariba, beside the dam that holds back the Zambezi River. The dam was built in the 1950s and created one of the largest man-made lakes in the world by volume. The town grew up on the hills above the gorge, first to house construction workers and later as a lakeside centre.
From above, Kariba is spread across several ridges, with roads winding between them rather than forming a single grid. The lake fills much of the map, its shoreline broken into bays, inlets and islands. The filling of the lake led to Operation Noah, a well-known effort to rescue wildlife stranded by the rising water.
A Kariba map poster frames the town between hills and water. The irregular shoreline, the curving roads on the ridges and the dam wall in the gorge create a composition with drama and space. It is a strong map for anyone who has spent time on the lake.

Kariba Dam
The dam wall spans the narrow Zambezi gorge, a short but significant line on the map that explains the entire landscape around it.
Ridge-top roads
Roads curve along the hills above the lake, linking parts of town spread over separate ridges and giving the map a loose, flowing pattern.

为什么选Kariba
一张有意义的地图
Kariba holds memories of houseboats, fishing trips and sunsets over the water for many people. A map of the town is a way to keep that landscape in view long after leaving the lake.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, perhaps with the name of a boat or the date of a trip, and the map comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
