Residential layouts
Newer housing areas are laid out in neat, regular plots. They sit right next to the more irregular lanes of the older settlements, and the difference is easy to see.

关于地图
Kavanur Map Poster & Print
Kavanur lies on the western edge of the Chennai metropolitan area in Tamil Nadu, in a belt of towns that has changed quickly as the city has grown. Its map shows that change. There are older village lanes, newer residential layouts with regular plots, and main roads carrying traffic between the suburbs and the city to the east.
Water shapes this part of Tamil Nadu. Traditional tanks, known locally as eris, collect the monsoon rain. The large Chembarambakkam reservoir, one of Chennai's main sources of drinking water, lies close by. On a poster these bodies of water become broad, smooth shapes that break up the street pattern and give the composition a sense of scale.
A Kavanur map poster suits people who know the area as a place to live rather than visit: families who moved out from the city, or people who grew up here before the new layouts arrived. The map shows the streets as they are today, a snapshot of a suburb that is still filling in.

Tanks and reservoirs
Large bodies of water in the area appear as wide, open shapes. They interrupt the fine street network and give the poster room to breathe.
Arterial roads
A few main roads cut through the suburban fabric toward central Chennai. They form the strongest lines on the map and tie the neighbourhood to the city.

一张有意义的地图
A new home, a first flat or a childhood street in Chennai's suburbs is worth marking. A map of Kavanur can carry your family name, a move-in date or the name of your layout in the title and subtitle.
The five styles give different moods: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Order a matte printed poster, framed or unframed, or download the $9 HD files and print them yourself at any of the six sizes.
