Irrigation network
Canals and smaller channels spread from the river across the fields around town, drawing thin, branching lines across much of the poster.

关于地图
Khāliş Map Poster & Print
Khāliş is a town in Diyala Governorate in eastern Iraq, north of the provincial capital Baqubah. It lies in the farmland watered by the Diyala River, a tributary of the Tigris. From above, the town is a compact grid of streets surrounded by green: palm groves, orchards and fields crossed by irrigation canals that have been part of this landscape for a very long time.
The map is at its best where the built-up core meets that watered ground. Streets stay fairly regular near the centre. Outside it, the pattern turns into thin canals, field boundaries and farm tracks, so the town seems to float in a finely lined field. Roads link Khāliş with Baqubah and the other towns of the governorate.
A Khāliş map poster shows how closely settlement and irrigation are tied together in central Iraq. Diyala has long been known for its orchards, especially citrus and dates, and farming here depends on channels drawn from the river. For people from Khāliş, at home or abroad, the poster offers a quiet, precise image of the town and the land that feeds it.

Orchard belt
Palm groves and orchards surround the built-up area. Each is marked by field edges and tracks, which gives the town a soft, textured frame instead of a hard boundary.
Compact centre
The streets at the heart of Khāliş form a dense, fairly regular core, which prints as the darkest and most concentrated part of the map.
