River gorge
South of the town the Khulm River cuts through a narrow passage in the hills before opening onto the plain, a dramatic contrast between tight terrain and open ground.

关于地图
Khulm Map Poster & Print
Khulm, historically known as Tashqurghan, sits in Balkh province at the point where the Khulm River emerges from the mountains and fans out onto the plains of northern Afghanistan. From above, the town is defined by that transition: rugged, folded terrain to the south, open flat land to the north, and between them a green band of irrigated gardens and orchards fed by the river's channels.
Within the oasis, walled gardens and mud-brick compounds create a dense, irregular pattern of plots and alleys, quite different from a planned grid. The town was long known for its covered bazaar, one of the traditional market centres of the region, and it lies on the main road linking Mazar-i-Sharif with Kunduz, a route that crosses the map as a clear line.
Khulm's position between mountain and plain made it a stop for caravans and travellers for centuries, and the landscape still shows why: water, shelter and a natural gateway. A Khulm map poster keeps these layers together, the river gorge, the orchards and the road, in a single composition that feels both precise and rooted.

Orchard belt
Irrigation channels drawn from the river water a wide belt of gardens and orchards, whose small walled plots give the centre of the map a fine, cellular texture.
Mazar–Kunduz road
The main highway between Mazar-i-Sharif and Kunduz passes the town, a long straight line that anchors the composition and hints at Khulm's role on older trade routes.

为什么选Khulm
一张有意义的地图
For Afghans living abroad, a map of Khulm is a quiet link to orchards, markets and family homes in Balkh. For others, it is a striking study of how water organises a settlement at the edge of the mountains, where every green patch follows a channel.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates to record a name, a year or a family story, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital download costs $9 and includes six print sizes, from A3 to 24×36″, with no watermark.
