Jinja road artery
The main road east from Kampala runs past Kireka as a wide, confident line, the spine from which the rest of the street network branches.

关于地图
Kireka Map Poster & Print
Kireka lies on the eastern side of Greater Kampala, in the fast-growing part of Wakiso District that stretches along the main road towards Jinja. Like much of the capital region, it is organised around hills and the valleys between them. On a map the suburb appears as a tight mesh of streets spread across a rise and spilling down its sides.
The Kampala–Jinja road is the defining line, a broad artery that carries traffic past the suburb and gives it a clear edge. Smaller roads and footpaths branch off it irregularly, climbing the slope in short turns and dividing the land into small, uneven plots. Lower down, the network loosens where wetter ground and valley floors have been left partly open.
A Kireka map poster captures a very contemporary kind of African urban landscape: dense, informal in places, and shaped by topography rather than a master plan. In black and white the texture of the lanes becomes the main subject, and the main road running across it gives the composition a strong, readable anchor.

Hillside lanes
Small streets and paths climb the slope in short, irregular segments, creating a fine, dense texture that dominates the centre of the map.
Valley edges
Where the land drops towards lower, wetter ground, the built pattern thins out, leaving open spaces that outline the shape of the hill.

为什么选Kireka
一张有意义的地图
Many people know Kireka as the place where they first rented a room, raised children or commuted from each day into Kampala. A map of the suburb turns that everyday geography into something worth framing, whether it hangs at home in Uganda or far away.
Write your own title and subtitle, add the date you moved in or moved on, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The $9 digital package contains six sizes as PNG and PDF, ready for any local print shop.
