关于地图
Kukës Map Poster & Print
Kukës lies in northeastern Albania, close to the borders with Kosovo and North Macedonia. The old town stood at the confluence of the White Drin and the Black Drin, but in the 1970s the construction of the Fierza hydroelectric dam flooded the valley, and a new town was built on higher ground overlooking the water.
The result is an unusually distinctive town map: a planned settlement set on a promontory, with the reservoir wrapping around it in long, branching arms. Behind it rises Mount Gjallica, whose steep slopes give the map a strong sense of relief even when drawn only in simple lines.
In 1999 Kukës received hundreds of thousands of refugees from Kosovo, and its residents were widely recognised for their hospitality during that crisis. A Kukës map poster brings together water, mountain and planned streets in a single, clearly defined composition that reflects both the town's geography and its recent past.

Planned centre
Built as a new town in the 1970s, the centre follows a deliberate plan of blocks and streets set out across the promontory.
Mount Gjallica
The mountain rises steeply behind the town, and its slopes form a dramatic backdrop that frames the reservoir and streets at wider scales.

为什么选Kukës
一张有意义的地图
Kukës holds meaning for Albanians from the north, for Kosovars who found shelter here in 1999 and for travellers crossing the border. The water-wrapped outline makes it a memorable map to hang.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised with a name, a year or a short dedication. Choose one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; Noir gives the reservoir a particularly strong outline.
