Kwail-ŭp is the administrative seat of Kwail County in South Hwanghae Province, North Korea. It lies in the west of the country, where low hills meet the rice-growing plains that make Hwanghae one of the main farming regions on the peninsula. From above, the town is compact, with a small grid of streets and open land all around it.
Cultivated fields surround the settlement, divided into regular parcels by irrigation channels and farm roads. The hills rise at the edges, wooded or terraced, and roads wind through them to connect the town to the rest of the province.
