关于地图
Maamba Map Poster & Print
Maamba lies in Sinazongwe District in Zambia's Southern Province, in hilly country that falls toward the shores of Lake Kariba. The town exists because of coal: Maamba Collieries has worked the deposits here for decades and is the country's main coal producer. On a map, the residential areas and the industrial zone sit as distinct clusters in a sparsely settled landscape.
A coal-fired power station built alongside the mine has made Maamba important to Zambia's electricity supply. The roads that serve the mine and plant connect the town to the rest of the province, while the surrounding land remains largely open bush crossed by tracks and seasonal streams.
A Maamba map poster is an unusual subject: a working town whose layout reflects its industry. The planned housing areas, the larger footprint of the mine and power station, and the winding approach roads make a clear, readable composition in black and white, well suited to people who have lived or worked there.

Company town layout
Housing areas built for mine workers follow a planned, regular pattern, giving parts of the map a tidier grid than the surrounding countryside.
Road toward Kariba
Roads leave Maamba through hilly terrain toward the wider Sinazongwe area and the lake, drawing long curving lines across otherwise open ground.
