关于地图
Malakhovka Map Poster & Print
Malakhovka is a settlement in Moscow Oblast, south-east of the capital, and grew up as a dacha community along the Kazan railway line. On a map the railway cuts diagonally through the area, with a station at its centre. Around it spreads a loose pattern of quiet lanes and large wooded plots, and a lake gives the eye somewhere to rest.
For more than a century the settlement has been a summer destination for Muscovites. Its summer theatre drew well-known performers in the early twentieth century, and today the town hosts a state academy of physical culture. The map still carries that holiday-suburb feel: generous plots, few straight axes and plenty of green between houses.
A Malakhovka map poster pares all this back to its structure: the long line of the railway, the curve of the lake shore and the irregular lanes between them. It is a portrait of a very Russian kind of place, part suburb and part countryside, where the street pattern grew up around trains and summer houses.

Malakhovka lake
A lake near the centre forms the main open shape on the map, its shoreline contrasting with the fine network of surrounding dacha lanes.
Dacha lanes
Narrow residential lanes divide the area into large, irregular plots, a pattern inherited from the summer houses that first defined the settlement.
