关于地图
Mariāni Map Poster & Print
Mariāni is in Jorhat district, in Upper Assam. It grew up around the railway, and the junction is still central to its identity. From above, the tracks and sidings form a strong set of lines through the town, and the streets arrange themselves on either side. The land to the east rises toward the hills along the Nagaland border.
The countryside around Mariāni is dominated by tea. Estates stretch in every direction, with the long rows of bushes, the shade trees and the straight access roads showing clearly from above. Between the estates there are villages, paddy fields and small watercourses. The town itself is a compact centre of shops and homes bordered by these green blocks.
A Mariāni map poster shows how a railway and an agricultural landscape shaped a town together. The lines of the tracks cut through the middle, the estates occupy the edges, and the settlement fills the space where they meet. It is an understated portrait of a place that many people in Assam know as a stop on the line.

Tea estate blocks
Large tea gardens surround the town. From above they appear as broad, regular parcels crossed by estate roads, with a character quite different from the town streets.
Foothill edge
East of the town the ground starts rising toward the hills on the Nagaland border. The flat plain and the first slopes meet at the edge of the frame.

为什么选Mariāni
一张有意义的地图
For families who have worked on the tea estates or the railway, and for anyone who grew up in Mariāni, this map brings back a very particular landscape. It is a quiet piece for a home far from Upper Assam.
Use the title for the town's name, add a family name, an estate or a date in the subtitle, and edit the coordinates. Paper and Sand suit the garden landscape. Classic black and white keeps the railway lines crisp.
