Colonial street grid
The centre keeps the square blocks and straight streets of its Spanish colonial layout. It forms a neat, readable pattern around the main plaza and the church of San Pedro Apóstol.

关于地图
Metapán Map Poster & Print
Metapán is in the far northwest of El Salvador, a short distance from the borders with Guatemala and Honduras. Its centre follows the Spanish colonial plan: a regular grid of blocks around a main plaza. At the edges of town, the grid gives way to roads that climb into the surrounding hills. On a map, the order of the centre stands out clearly against the uneven ground beyond it.
The town is known for its colonial church of San Pedro Apóstol, which faces the central square. It is also the gateway to Montecristo National Park, a cloud forest in the mountains where the three countries meet. To the south lie Lake Güija and the smaller Lake Metapán, whose irregular shorelines break up the land around the town.
A Metapán map poster places the tight grid of the old town among roads that follow valleys and ridges. If the frame is wide enough, it can also include the edge of the lakes. It is a detailed and well-balanced composition, and it suits people with family roots in Santa Ana Department or those who have travelled up toward Montecristo.

Lakes to the south
Lake Güija and Lake Metapán lie to the south of the town. Their irregular shorelines add large, soft shapes that balance the geometric streets on a wider map.
Road to Montecristo
Roads leave town and wind up into the mountains toward Montecristo National Park. Their curves follow the terrain and contrast with the straight lines of the grid below.

为什么选Metapán
一张有意义的地图
Many Salvadorans abroad come from towns like Metapán, and a map of the old grid keeps that connection in view. The poster also suits travellers who passed through on their way to the cloud forest or the lakes.
You can write a family name, a date or a place of origin into the title, subtitle and coordinates line. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. It comes as a $9 HD file or as a printed poster.
