Midoun Map Poster & Print
Midoun is on the eastern side of Djerba, the flat island off Tunisia's southern coast in the Gulf of Gabès. It is one of the island's main towns, with a compact centre of whitewashed buildings around a market. The land around it is scattered with menzels, the traditional fortified farmsteads that give Djerba its dispersed settlement pattern.
Toward the coast, the map runs out to a long line of beaches that carries the island's tourist zone, with hotels set in large landscaped plots. Between town and sea, small roads cross fields, olive groves and palm gardens, and many parcels are outlined by earthen walls or hedges of prickly pear.
A Midoun map poster shows an island geography in miniature: a small urban core, a looping road network, and the smooth curve of the shoreline against the Mediterranean. The weekly market still draws people from across Djerba, and the town remains a lived-in place just inland from the resort coast.
