Granite outcrops
Rocky hills rise around the town and interrupt the plain. Their rounded outlines are the most distinctive natural feature of the map.

关于地图
Mongo Map Poster
Mongo is the capital of the Guéra province in central Chad. The province is named after the Guéra massif, a group of granite hills and rocky outcrops that rise abruptly from the surrounding plain. On the map, these hills set the scene: the town sits on flatter ground among them, and its roads bend to pass between the rocks.
The town itself has a simple structure. A central area of markets and administrative buildings is surrounded by residential quarters of compounds on loosely arranged blocks. Main roads lead out across the plain to other towns in the region. Seasonal streams, dry for much of the year, cross the land as faint, branching lines.
A Mongo map poster brings out the contrast between the rounded, irregular shapes of the hills and the more regular spread of the town. It is a spare, open composition, with plenty of space around the streets, suited to people with a connection to central Chad.

Compound quarters
Residential areas are made up of blocks of family compounds, forming a loose grid of sandy streets that spreads out from the centre.
Seasonal streams
Watercourses that flow mainly in the rainy season cross the plain in thin, branching lines, adding fine detail to the open land.
