Seasonal watercourses
Dry riverbeds cross the city and fill briefly after the rains. On the poster they show as soft, winding breaks in the street pattern.

关于地图
Nyala Map Poster & Print
Nyala spreads across flat, open ground in the south of Darfur. From above it is low and extensive, with many unpaved residential blocks around a more tightly built centre near the market. Seasonal watercourses cross the landscape and are dry for much of the year. They affect how the city grows, leaving curving open corridors between districts.
Nyala is the capital of South Darfur and one of the largest cities in Sudan. It has long been a trading centre for the surrounding region, and it is the western end of a branch of the Sudanese railway, which ties it to the rest of the country. The airport, on the city's edge, is one of the largest open shapes on the map.
A Nyala map poster keeps the plain, spare character of the city. Its outer streets fade gradually into the surrounding land, and the watercourses and railway add long lines to an otherwise even pattern. For people with ties to Darfur, especially those now living far away, it can be a quiet and meaningful way to keep the city close.

Railway terminus
Nyala is the endpoint of a branch of the national railway. The line enters the city in a long straight stroke, clearly visible against the looser blocks.
Wide outer districts
Beyond the centre, residential areas extend across the plain in broad, loosely gridded blocks. They give the print an open, spacious feel.

为什么选Nyala
一张有意义的地图
Many families from Nyala now live elsewhere in Sudan or abroad. A map of the city is a respectful way to remember a home, a neighbourhood or a family's roots without relying on photographs.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, for instance with a family name. Choose from five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand suits the colours of the region especially well.
