Cerro de Montecristi
The hill rising behind town sets the shape of the map. Streets bend and climb along its lower slopes, softening the grid at the town's edges.

关于地图
Montecristi Map Poster & Print
Montecristi is in Ecuador's Manabí province, a short way inland from the port of Manta. The town sits at the foot of Cerro de Montecristi, and on a map its streets climb and bend with the slope. The centre forms a compact grid around a square, while the edges become more irregular where the ground rises.
Montecristi is known internationally for its fine toquilla straw hats, the ones widely sold as Panama hats, which are woven here by hand. It is also the birthplace of Eloy Alfaro, a president and the leader of Ecuador's Liberal Revolution. The Ciudad Alfaro complex on the hill hosted the constituent assembly that drafted the 2008 constitution.
A Montecristi map poster captures both town and hill. Streets on the lower ground give way to curving roads up the slope, and roads run out toward Manta and the coast. Printed simply, it is an understated tribute to a town whose name means craftsmanship to people around the world.

Central grid
A regular block pattern around the main square makes up the historic centre. It is the densest part of the print and where hat workshops and shops traditionally cluster.
Road to Manta
Main roads link Montecristi to the port city of Manta nearby. They cut across the dry lowland and tie the town to the Pacific coast.

为什么选Montecristi
一张有意义的地图
Montecristi is a hometown, a craft centre and a place of national history. A map of it suits weavers' families, people from Manabí living abroad, and anyone who owns one of its hats and wants to remember where it was made.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a family name or a date. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand echoes the colour of toquilla straw.
