Nesttun Map Poster & Print
Nesttun lies south of central Bergen in the Fana area, where several valleys meet. On a map it is a crossroads. Roads come in from the city, from the south and from the eastern valleys, and they all meet in a small centre set in the low ground between wooded hills. A small lake, Nesttunvatnet, sits close to the centre.
For a long time Nesttun was a local hub, first at the end of the old narrow-gauge railway toward Os and later on the main road south. Today the Bybanen light rail runs through it, a smooth curving line added to the older, more tangled road pattern. Housing climbs the slopes around the centre in contour-following loops, as it does across much of Bergen.
A Nesttun map poster shows western Norway at neighbourhood scale. The streets curve around hills, the green areas are large and close, and the water appears as small lakes, not the fjord. People who live on these slopes will recognise the exact bends their daily routes take.
