The Oka bend
The river curves broadly past the town, with low meadows on the opposite bank. It forms the main open shape on the print.

关于地图
Pavlovo Map Poster & Print
Pavlovo stands on the Oka River in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, southwest of Nizhny Novgorod. The river sweeps past in a wide curve, and the town rises on the steep bank above it. Ravines cut into the slope, so the streets divide into separate hillside sections instead of forming one continuous grid.
For centuries the town has been known for metalwork, in particular locks, knives and cutlery made by local craftsmen and later in factories. It is also home to the Pavlovo Bus Plant, whose PAZ buses are a familiar sight across Russia. In addition, the town is associated with the Pavlovo lemon, a variety traditionally grown indoors.
A Pavlovo map poster shows a river town shaped by its terrain. There is the broad Oka with its floodplain on the far bank, the older centre on the heights, and the industrial districts spreading inland along the roads.

Ravine-cut slopes
Gullies running down to the river split the town into hillside sections. The result is an irregular, interesting street pattern.
Factory districts
Larger industrial blocks sit further from the river. Their broad outlines contrast with the smaller residential streets.
