Prescot Map Poster & Print
Prescot is a historic market town in Merseyside, a few miles east of Liverpool. Its centre sits on higher ground, and from above the old core stands out as a compact knot of narrow streets around the parish church, surrounded by later housing estates and the lines of major roads. The M57 passes to the west, and the extensive grounds of Knowsley Park lie just to the north.
Prescot has a long history of watchmaking and clock-making, and for generations was a centre of precision craft; the town's museum tells that story. More recently it has become known for the Shakespeare North Playhouse, opened in 2022, which draws on Prescot's claim to have had one of the earliest purpose-built playhouses outside London.
