关于地图
Ptolemaḯda Map Poster & Print
Ptolemaḯda lies in the Kozani regional unit of northern Greece, on a high plain in Western Macedonia. On a map the town has an orderly, mostly rectangular street grid, and beyond its edges the land changes dramatically: enormous open-pit lignite mines and power stations take up large areas, their stepped terraces clearly visible from above.
Formerly known as Kailaria, the town was renamed in the 1920s after Ptolemy, a figure from ancient Macedon. For decades it has been at the centre of Greece's lignite-based electricity production, which earned the area the nickname of the country's energy hub. The mines and plants shaped both the economy and the surrounding landscape.
A Ptolemaḯda map poster shows this contrast clearly. The compact grid of the town sits on one side, and on the other the mines spread out in huge curving shapes that look almost like contour drawings. It is an unexpected, striking composition about a town and the industry that powered a country.

为什么选Ptolemaḯda
一张有意义的地图
Ptolemaḯda is often chosen by families who worked in the mines and power plants, or by people who grew up watching the landscape change. The pairing of tidy grid and huge mining shapes makes a bold, graphic print.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the industrial subject well. The $9 download includes six print sizes, without a watermark.
