Magdalena riverfront
The wide river channel runs along the town's edge, with islands and sandbars that give the poster a bold, flowing form against the fine street grid.

关于地图
Puerto Wilches Map Poster & Print
Puerto Wilches is a river town in Santander, Colombia, on the east bank of the Magdalena River in the country's middle Magdalena region. The river dominates any map of the place: a wide, braided channel with sandbanks and side arms, next to which the town's streets look small and tightly organised. Around it spread wetlands, lagoons and large blocks of farmland.
The urban area is a fairly regular grid that begins at the riverfront and extends inland. Streets running down to the water emphasise the town's orientation toward the river, which historically served as its main connection to the rest of the country. Beyond the grid, the landscape breaks into ciénagas and plantation tracks, adding irregular shapes around the edges of the print.
The town takes its name from Solón Wilches, a nineteenth-century president of the Sovereign State of Santander, and the surrounding area is known for oil palm cultivation. A Puerto Wilches map poster pairs a neat grid of streets with the loose, powerful shape of the Magdalena.

Grid facing the water
Streets extend inland from the bank in a regular pattern, making clear how the town grew outward from its river landing.
Wetland surroundings
Lagoons and marshy ground around the town appear as soft irregular shapes, a contrast with the straight lines of the urban centre.
