Irrigation pattern
Canals and channels shape where people live and farm. On the map they form fine, branching lines that link the town to the surrounding fields.

关于地图
Qarqīn Map Poster & Print
Qarqīn lies in Jowzjan Province in the far north of Afghanistan, on the flat lowlands near the Amu Darya, the river that forms much of the country's northern border. The border with Turkmenistan runs close by. The town sits in a landscape of irrigated fields and canals, with desert at the margins.
Settlement here follows the water. Houses and walled compounds cluster along roads and irrigation channels, and the fields around them form a patchwork of small, irregular plots. The wider region has a long tradition of carpet weaving among its Turkmen communities, a craft closely associated with northern Afghanistan.
A Qarqīn map poster shows a place without a formal grid, where canals, tracks and field boundaries draw the map as much as streets do. Where the wide, braided course of the Amu Darya falls within the frame, it gives the composition a strong natural edge.

为什么选Qarqīn
一张有意义的地图
For people from Qarqīn and Jowzjan, many of whom now live far from home, a map of the town can mean a great deal. Its lines of canals and lanes make a quiet, dignified image of a place that is rarely shown.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, including with names in Dari, Uzbek or Turkmen. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital files come as 300 DPI PNGs and print-ready PDFs for $9.
