Rapallo Map Poster & Print
Rapallo sits on the Italian Riviera, at the head of a bay on the Gulf of Tigullio, just north of the Portofino promontory. On a map, the seafront follows a smooth curve. The old town fills a narrow strip of flat land behind the shore. Behind it, the hills rise quickly, with roads zigzagging up through the valleys.
Rapallo is known internationally for two treaties signed here, in 1920 and 1922. The small sixteenth-century castle stands in the water just off the seafront and is one of the town's symbols. A cable car climbs from the town to the Montallegro sanctuary, high in the hills above the bay.
A Rapallo map poster balances water, a tight old centre and steep hillsides. The curve of the bay, the pier and the harbour give it a strong outline. The dense streets and the winding hill roads fill in the detail. The result is one of the most striking coastal plans on the Riviera.
