Ridge-top roads
The main roads run along the crests of the hills, so the town's spine follows the high ground and not a river or a straight axis.

关于地图
Serchhīp Map Poster & Print
Serchhīp is the headquarters of Serchhip district in central Mizoram, in the hill country of northeast India. The town is built along ridges, and its map shows it: roads follow the lie of the land, curving around slopes and doubling back where the ground falls away. Buildings line these routes in narrow bands instead of filling a flat grid.
The district is widely noted for its very high literacy rate, among the highest recorded in India. From above, though, the terrain is what stands out. Streets branch like the veins of a leaf, with short spurs dropping into side valleys and a few longer roads linking the town to the rest of the state.
A Serchhīp map poster turns this hill geometry into a clear linear drawing. With no river or coastline to anchor it, the pattern comes from the roads themselves, winding and stacked one above another. It looks nothing like a lowland town, and that difference is exactly what makes it interesting on a wall.

Switchbacks and spurs
Where slopes steepen, roads fold back on themselves and short lanes branch off. The result is a dense, organic pattern of curves across the map.
Forested valleys
The valleys between the ridges stay largely unbuilt. They leave open space on the poster and sharpen the outline of the settled high ground.

为什么选Serchhīp
一张有意义的地图
For people from Mizoram living elsewhere, a map of Serchhīp captures something photographs often miss: how the town actually sits on its hills. Every curve in the road has a reason, and seeing them together makes a familiar place look new.
