Seibu Shinjuku Line
The railway crosses the neighbourhood in a firm line, with the station at its heart. It is the one bold stroke in an otherwise very fine street pattern.

关于地图
Shimoigusa Map Poster & Print
Shimoigusa is a residential neighbourhood in Suginami, in western Tokyo. It grew up around its station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line. From above, it is one of the finest-grained street maps you can print: tiny blocks, short lanes and alleys only a car wide, all packed together. The railway runs across the area as one steady line through the mesh.
Like much of western Tokyo, Shimoigusa grew as a commuter suburb once the railway arrived. It filled in lot by lot rather than to a grand plan. The result is a pattern of small streets that bend and branch, with a local shopping street leading from the station and quiet houses and small parks behind it.
A Shimoigusa map poster suits anyone who has lived in the neighbourhood or come to know this side of Tokyo, away from the famous districts. The map shows everyday Tokyo, low-rise and closely built, with a railway line cutting through the middle.

Micro-scale lanes
Streets here are narrow and short and often end in dead ends. At poster size they create an almost textile-like pattern of dense, delicate lines.
Station shopping street
A local shopping street leads away from the station, a common pattern in Tokyo suburbs, before the lanes quietly turn residential.

为什么选Shimoigusa
一张有意义的地图
Many people who hang this map lived here: a first Tokyo flat, a study year, a neighbourhood they walked every day. It shows a Tokyo that does not appear on postcards, and it feels very personal.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a date or an address, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the dense lanes stand out strongly.
