Singampunari is a town in Sivaganga district in southern Tamil Nadu, set in flat, largely agricultural country. From above, the town is a dense knot of streets in open land. Roads radiate out to surrounding villages and to larger towns in the region.
Like much of this part of Tamil Nadu, the landscape depends on irrigation tanks, man-made reservoirs that store monsoon rain for the fields. These appear on the map as distinct, rounded water bodies scattered across the countryside. Around the town, farmland fills the space between them.
