关于地图
Standerton Map Poster & Print
Standerton lies on the Mpumalanga Highveld, beside the Vaal River. Its map is built around a regular grid of broad streets laid out in the nineteenth century, with the river bending past the edge of the old town. Beyond it, later suburbs and townships extend the built-up area in their own patterns, and then the land opens into flat grassland and farms.
The town is named after Adriaan Stander, the farmer on whose land it was established, and during the First Anglo-Boer War its British garrison was besieged for several months. Today it serves a farming district known particularly for dairy, and the large Tutuka power station stands in the countryside nearby.
A Standerton map poster captures the clarity of a planned Highveld town: straight streets, square blocks and a single river winding through the frame. The Vaal gives the design its one natural curve, and the surrounding grassland leaves generous margins that keep the composition calm.

Vaal River bends
The Vaal winds past the town in a series of loops, the only strong natural line on the map and a counterpoint to the straight streets.
Township extensions
Later neighbourhoods spread out from the original grid with their own street patterns, adding varied textures to the edges of the built-up area.

为什么选Standerton
一张有意义的地图
Standerton is the kind of town people carry with them long after they leave for Johannesburg, Pretoria or further afield. A map of its streets and river is a plain, honest reminder of where someone started out.
Add a name, a year or a short line to the title and subtitle, edit the coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files include six print sizes, or you can order a printed poster with an optional frame.
