Svetogorsk Map Poster & Print
Svetogorsk lies on the Vuoksi river, right on the Russian–Finnish border, directly across from the Finnish town of Imatra. Until 1944 it was part of Finland and known as Enso. The map shows a town shaped by water and industry. The river runs past in a wide, fast channel, with dams and a hydroelectric station controlling its flow.
The town grew around a large pulp and paper mill, and industrial sites take up a noticeable part of the riverbank. Residential streets spread out behind them into the forest. The border crossing to Imatra is a major route, and on the map roads lead straight toward it, meeting a line that the streets on both sides stop short of.
