From above, Tegina reads as a town shaped by movement. A through road carries the strongest line across the sheet, and the denser part of town gathers along it. Behind that line, shorter lanes and footpaths fan out between compounds. They loosen as they go until the built pattern gives way to open ground. The result is a map with a clear spine and softly dissolving edges.
Tegina sits in Niger State in north-central Nigeria, in the wide savanna belt between the Niger River basin and the northern plains. The land around it is used mostly for farming, and on a map that shows as broad unmarked space, crossed here and there by tracks linking the town to nearby villages.
