Tosya Map Poster & Print
Tosya lies in the south of Kastamonu province in northern Turkey. It sits in the valley of the Devrez river, which flows east through a plain framed by mountains. The town spreads along the valley floor instead of growing in a round shape. This gives the map a long, directional form that follows the line of the plain.
The D100 highway, one of the country's main east–west routes, passes through the area, so Tosya is a familiar stop for travellers crossing northern Anatolia. Around the town the valley floor is divided into irrigated fields. Their small plots and channels show up as fine texture in black and white.
These fields produce Tosya rice, one of the best-known regional rice varieties in Turkey, and its name is recognised far beyond the province.
