Tsetserleg Map Poster & Print
Tsetserleg is the centre of Arkhangai Province, in the green, rolling country of central Mongolia. The town sits right at the foot of Bulgan Mountain, so on a map the built-up area presses up against steep ground on one side and opens onto a broad valley floor on the other. Streets are laid out in loose blocks, with fenced household plots filling many of them.
The town grew around the Zayain Gegeen monastery, founded in the seventeenth century. Its temple buildings survived the purges of the 1930s and now house a regional museum, which is one reason Tsetserleg is a common stop for travellers heading west from Ulaanbaatar towards the Khangai mountains.
