Hill and valley
Wooded high ground separates the inhabited valleys, so the street network appears as separate clusters joined by winding roads rather than one continuous grid.

关于地图
Umeki Map Poster & Print
Umeki is in Kagoshima Prefecture, at the southern end of Kyushu. It lies on the western side of the Satsuma Peninsula, where the land slopes down toward the East China Sea. On a map the town does not show one dense grid. Clusters of streets sit in the lower ground, and roads follow the valleys between wooded hills.
This landscape suits a minimalist print. Built-up areas appear as tight patches of fine lines, and farmland and forest appear as open space between them. Rivers and streams run down toward the coast, and the main roads bend to follow them rather than cutting straight across. The overall pattern is one of settlements threaded along routes, with no single centre and suburbs around it.
A Umeki map poster is a quiet, personal choice. It suits someone who grew up here, has family in the area or has spent time in this corner of southern Japan. The coordinates line, 31.67° N, 130.38° E, places it clearly in Kyushu's far south. Nearby, the city of Kagoshima faces Sakurajima across the bay on the other side of the peninsula.

Toward the sea
The western side of the Satsuma Peninsula falls toward the East China Sea, and the streams and roads on the map tend to follow that slope toward the coast.
Open space
Fields and forest leave wide areas without lines. On the poster, these blank spaces carry as much of the design as the streets do.

为什么选Umeki
一张有意义的地图
Some maps are hung because a city is famous. This one is more likely to be hung because it is home. Umeki's scattered streets and valley roads make a calm, balanced composition that reads as a place you know well rather than a landmark.
You can add your own title and subtitle, such as a family name or the year you left, and adjust the coordinates line. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. It is available as a $9 digital download or as a printed poster shipped from partners in more than 30 countries.
