Urunda lies in the Mbeya region of southwestern Tanzania, part of the country's southern highlands. It is a modest town, and on a map it appears as a compact network of local streets with plots and farmland around it. The pattern is informal and organic, shaped by use and terrain rather than by a planned grid.
Because the town is small, each line on the map carries weight. A few main routes pass through or near the centre, while narrower tracks lead toward surrounding fields and homesteads. Beyond the built area the ground opens up, and the map becomes a portrait of a town set among working farmland.
