Voiron Map Poster
Voiron lies in the Isère department, northwest of Grenoble, where the Chartreuse massif gives way to lower ground. From above, the town fills a valley and spreads up the slopes around it. The Morge river runs through the centre, the older streets curve around it, and the ground rises steeply toward the mountains to the east.
The town is linked with the Chartreuse liqueur, whose cellars were in Voiron for many years. It's also the birthplace of the Rossignol ski brand, founded here in the early twentieth century. The twin-spired Église Saint-Bruno stands out on the skyline. Rail lines and roads toward Grenoble and Lyon run through the lower part of town.

To the east the ground climbs toward the massif, and the roads there wind with the terrain. On the map this adds curving lines on one side of the town.
Saint-Bruno quarter
The large nineteenth-century church sits in a prominent position in the town. Its surrounding streets form one of the clearest focal points in the plan.
