Yerköy is a town in Yozgat Province, in the middle of Turkey's Central Anatolian plateau. The country around it is broad and open, with wide fields and low, rolling hills, and on a map the town appears as a concentrated patch of streets set within a largely empty expanse. That contrast between density and space gives the place a clear, graphic outline.
Railway lines crossing central Anatolia pass through Yerköy, including the high-speed route between Ankara and Sivas, and the tracks are one of the defining lines of its plan.
