Camden Town lies in north London, between Regent's Park and Kentish Town. On a map it is layered and busy: Victorian terraces set in tight streets, main roads meeting at the tube station, and rail lines on embankments fanning out toward Euston. It is a compact area with a great deal of detail.
The Regent's Canal is the most distinctive line. It enters from the west, passes Camden Lock and continues east, with towpaths along both banks. The former stables and warehouses beside the lock became the markets that now define the area. Primrose Hill and Regent's Park add large open spaces to the west.
