Comilla Map Poster
Comilla, officially spelled Cumilla, is one of Bangladesh's older district towns. It sits on the eastern plain close to the Indian border. From above, it is a tight weave of lanes around a few broad roads, broken up by rectangular ponds and tanks that show as crisp dark shapes. The Gomti River loops along the north side, and the Dhaka–Chittagong highway passes close by.
Just west of the town rise the Lalmai and Mainamati hills. Excavations there uncovered Buddhist monasteries from roughly the seventh to twelfth centuries, including Shalban Vihara. The area also holds the Comilla War Cemetery, a Commonwealth burial ground from the Second World War, and the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development, known for its model of village cooperatives.

Gomti River loop
The Gomti flows in from Tripura and bends along the north of the town. Its embankments give the poster a soft curving edge against the tight street grid.

West of the centre, the low Lalmai–Mainamati ridge and the cantonment bring a looser, greener pattern, with long straight roads running among the slopes and archaeological sites.
