Knurów is a town in Silesia, in the Gliwice area of the Upper Silesian industrial region. Its identity grew around coal mining, and the map reflects the rapid growth of the twentieth century: large housing estates with long blocks set at regular angles, broad roads connecting them, and industrial sites on the edges.
