Māranchēri is a panchayat town in the Malappuram district of Kerala, a short distance inland from the Arabian Sea coast. Like much of the Malabar lowland, it does not have a single dense centre. Instead, houses spread along narrow lanes through coconut groves, and the map shows a fine, branching network of roads rather than blocks.
Between the built-up strands lie open patches of paddy land and water, typical of this wet coastal belt where fields flood in the monsoon season.
