Mulongo Map Poster
Mulongo is a town in Haut-Lomami province in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It stands on the Lualaba, the long upper course of the Congo River, in a region of wide floodplains, lakes and marshes. Here the river is a working route for fishing and trade, and the town faces it.
From above, the water shapes everything. The Lualaba cuts a broad channel across the frame, with side channels and wetland edges on either bank, and the settlement follows the drier ground beside the river. Streets are few and simple compared with a city, and much of the poster is taken up by the flowing lines of water and the open country that surrounds it.
