Kaarta
Pugachëv sits in the Trans-Volga steppe of Saratov Oblast, on the Bolshoy Irgiz, a river that loops slowly across flat country before joining the Volga. From above, the town is a patch of regular blocks set against the river's bends. Oxbows and old channels curl around it, and farmland in long rectangular strips runs off toward the horizon.
The town was long known as Nikolayevsk. It took its present name in 1918, after Yemelyan Pugachev, the Cossack who led the great peasant uprising of the 1770s and has close ties to this part of the Irgiz valley. The name puts a large episode of Russian history onto a quiet provincial map, which is part of the appeal.
A Pugachëv map poster works because of the contrast. The straight lines of the town grid meet the unruly curves of a steppe river, and the black-and-white rendering shows both clearly. Streets become fine hatching, the Irgiz becomes a bold meandering stroke, and the empty land around them gives the composition plenty of breathing room.
The river winds past the town in wide loops and cut-off meanders, making a strong organic line that frames the street grid on the map.
Pugachëv's centre follows a planned rectangular layout typical of Volga-region towns. At poster scale it reads as an even, textile-like pattern of streets.
Beyond the last houses the map opens into field boundaries and country roads, so the town stands out as a compact, clearly defined shape.

For people who grew up on the Irgiz or have family roots in Saratov Oblast, this map is a quiet reminder of the place: the river, the grid and the steppe beyond. It also suits anyone interested in the history the town's name carries.
You can change the title, add a subtitle such as a family name or a date, and adjust the coordinates line. Then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, whichever suits the room.
