Sigli is a town on the northern coast of Aceh, at the tip of Sumatra, and serves as the administrative centre of Pidie Regency. On a map, the coastline runs along the town's northern edge, with the sea to one side and a flat coastal plain of rice fields and villages stretching inland toward the mountains.
The town lies on the main coastal road that runs along Aceh's north shore, connecting it to Banda Aceh to the west and to towns further east. Streets branch off this road into residential areas, and a river reaches the sea nearby, creating an inlet and small harbour area.
