Sik is the main town of Sik district in the interior of Kedah, in northern Peninsular Malaysia, away from the coastal plains and set among rolling hills and forest. From above it is a small settlement. A few roads meet at a compact centre of shophouses and public buildings, and village houses spread out along the roads into the green land around them.
The district is largely rural, and much of the land is given over to rubber, oil palm and rice, with forested hills rising toward the Thai border to the north. The town's shape follows the roads and the terrain. There is no grid, only a handful of streets that make sense of the valley and its surroundings.
