The Yangtze
The broad river sweeps past the district as a wide, smooth band that is by far the largest shape on the map, widened by the reservoir behind the Three Gorges Dam.

Taibai Map Poster & Print
Taibai is one of the urban districts of Wanzhou, in north-eastern Chongqing, on the upper Yangtze. From above, the river decides everything. The Yangtze is wide here because of the Three Gorges reservoir, and the city's streets climb in tight, curving bands up the steep slopes from the water.
The completion of the Three Gorges Dam raised the river level and reshaped Wanzhou. Old riverside districts were submerged, and new ones were built higher up the slopes. The name Taibai recalls the courtesy name of the Tang-dynasty poet Li Bai, whose memory is honoured in the city's local landmarks.
A Taibai map poster shows the typical shape of a Yangtze hill city. The broad river cuts a smooth, curving band across the sheet, and bridges span it. The streets pile up in layers along the bank, twisting around the slopes and crossing each other at different levels, which gives the print a dense, layered texture.

Hillside streets
Roads curve and switch back up the steep bank, forming tight, layered bands of streets instead of a flat grid.
River bridges
Long bridges cross the Yangtze and link the districts on either bank, drawing strong straight lines across the open water.

For people from Wanzhou, especially families whose old neighbourhoods disappeared under the reservoir, this map records the city as it stands today. The wide river and the steep, layered streets make a striking composition on the wall.
