Třinec Map Poster & Print
Třinec lies in the far east of the Czech Republic, close to the Polish border, in the valley of the Olza river beneath the Silesian Beskids. Its map is shaped by the valley: the river runs through the middle, the railway follows it, and the town stretches along both banks with the hills pressing in from the east.
The dominant feature is the Třinec Ironworks, one of the largest steel plants in the country, whose enormous footprint of halls, rail sidings and yards occupies much of the valley floor. The town is also known for its ice hockey club, HC Oceláři Třinec, named after the steelworkers, and for its Polish-speaking minority.
