Warora lies in Chandrapur district in the Vidarbha region of eastern Maharashtra. It is widely known as the home of Anandwan, the community founded by the social reformer Baba Amte to care for and rehabilitate people affected by leprosy. Anandwan grew into a self-sufficient settlement of farms, workshops and schools just outside the town.
The map shows a compact town centre with a dense street pattern, set beside a railway line and the main roads that cross the district. Around it lies flat to gently rolling country of cotton and soybean fields. Further out are the coal mines and power plants that mark the Chandrapur area.
