Caldera gap
The caldera rim is broken on the west, forming a natural gateway where lava flows have run down to the shore. It is the most striking feature on the map.

Mapa
Barren Island Map Poster & Print
Barren Island lies in the Andaman Sea, east of the main Andaman Islands, and is the only confirmed active volcano in South Asia. On a map it is nearly circular. A ring of steep outer slopes encloses a caldera that opens to the sea on the western side. A newer cone rises in the middle, and the island's eruptions come from it.
Eruptions were recorded in the late eighteenth century. After a long quiet period, activity resumed in 1991, and more eruptions followed in later years. Lava flows have reached the western shore through the gap in the caldera wall and reshaped that coast. Apart from feral goats and other wildlife, the island is uninhabited, and landing is restricted.
Dive boats and cruises from Port Blair pass nearby, and the surrounding water is known for its clarity. A Barren Island map poster gives this raw, circular form the space it deserves: a clean ring of contours, a single break in the caldera wall and open sea all around.

Central cone
A younger cone rises inside the caldera and marks the active vent. Its tight contours sit at the centre of the island like the bullseye of a target.
Circular outline
The island is almost round and only a few kilometres across, so its whole shape fits neatly inside a poster frame with generous sea around it.

Mapa koja nešto znači
